rkm3D:
rkm3D is our new 3D brand to showcase and explain stereoscopic material. This site concentrates on material that gives the impression of solidity or three dimensionality. It also has sections explaining some of the background and theory of 3D stereoscopy. 3D imagery takes many forms and there are many different technologies used to implement it. Not all of these work on current computer screens but we do have examples of three types that do.
- Anaglyphs (the red green glasses type)
- Autostereograms (random dot or hidden image stereograms) in which a 3d image appears to float above a pattern. No equipment needed.
- Stereo image pairs: simple to use, perfect colour reproduction but small. No equipment needed.
However, we are not limited to those. Since we generate the image (in many cases) from 3D computer models we can supply the basic stereo pairs for use in any technology.

ABOUT RK
Russell Kightley has been involved in medical and scientific illustration since 1982 and has used high end computer paint systems since 1985. He worked at Stanford University (Medical Center) in California in the early 80s and studied at the Australian National University (Graduate Diploma in Electronic Arts in 1997). He has many years experience making medical videos (scripting, directing and illustrating). Productions he worked on won 42 INTERNATIONAL FILM & VIDEO AWARDS (35 as director, including Silver at The British Medical Association and Gold at Worldfest Houston). His first award was a CINE Golden Eagle in 1984.
